Falling Away (Fall Away #3)
Author: Penelope Douglas
Release Date: 6 January 2015

Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid. K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away....

K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

Character Q&A with Jax

Hey Jax, I’m so thrilled you could come by Rookie Romance!
Glad to be here.

I know the readers will want to know more about you, so could you tell us 2 or 3 things about yourself that might surprise us?
I love crayons. I always have. They make dark things look better, and I was obsessed with them when I was a kid. I prefer even numbers. The volume on a stereo or how many pieces of popcorn I eat usually has to be in twos.

So Jax, what was it about K.C. that drew you to her so strongly?
She reminded me of a doll. Soft and pretty, almost breakable. I hate it when things come into my life and make it ugly. She was the complete opposite, and I wanted her. And even though I love to watch her move, I love being on top. I need to feel her body pressed against mine.

What were your first thoughts when you realized K.C. was coming home?
Well, I was the one who brought her home. I knew she was in trouble and just broke up with Liam. Having her home, I could make sure she was safe. I’d planned o leaving her alone, though. Until I found out she was going to have to stay next door to me. It was harder—okay, impossible—to ignore her then.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say K.C.?
JULIET

If you could have any actor play you in a movie of your life (just bear with me), who would it be?
Michael Pitt. He looks nothing like me, but he’s a good actor.

One last question, if you could do over any one thing in your life, what would it be?
The party after we got back from camping. I always thought the end justified the means, but hurting Juliet like I did was unforgivable. I was cruel, and I hate that that will be in her memory forever.

Thanks so much for answering my questions, Jax! I can’t wait for everyone to read yours and K.C.’s story!
Thanks. See you in Aflame. ;)

Excerpt

“I’d like to kiss you again, sweetheart, before we go in there.” His voice doesn’t rise above a whisper as he leans in.
“Please. I just talked to you about this.” I turn my face away.
“Oh, yes, I do recall your lovely speech.” He smiles and cups my chin with his right hand to bring my face back to his. “Only trouble is, you’ve delivered it to the wrong guy. I’m a persistent,” he nudges my lips with his, “and impatient bloke.” Another nudge. “I’m afraid your words have fallen on deaf ears, sweetheart.” He kisses the corner of my mouth.
“Persistent and impatient.” I repeat the words breathlessly.
“Hmm . . . lethal combination, love.” The words are barely out, and he attacks my lips.
