Blog Tour: Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne, Review + Giveaway

Blurred Lines
Author: Lauren Layne
Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date: 25 August 2015

In a novel that’s perfect for fans of Abbi Glines and Jessica Sorensen, USA Todaybestselling author Lauren Layne delivers a sexy take on the timeless question: Can a guy and a girl really be “just friends”?

When Parker Blanton meets Ben Olsen during her freshman year of college, the connection is immediate—and platonic. Six years later, they’re still best friends, sharing an apartment in Portland’s trendy Northwest District as they happily settle into adult life. But when Parker’s boyfriend dumps her out of the blue, she starts to wonder about Ben’s no-strings-attached approach to dating. The trouble is, even with Ben as her wingman, Parker can’t seem to get the hang of casual sex—until she tries it with him.

The arrangement works perfectly . . . at first. The sex is mind-blowing, and their friendship remains as solid as ever, without any of the usual messy romantic entanglements. But when Parker’s ex decides he wants her back, Ben is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ben starts seeing a girl from work, Parker finds herself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. With their friendship on the rocks for the first time, Parker and Ben face an alarming truth: Maybe they can’t go back. And maybe, deep down, they never want to.

Review

Ben and Parker have the perfect platonic boy-girl friendship. They're best friends and know each other better than themselves, plus they've never had any attraction to ruin things between them. So when Parker proposes they try being friends with benefits it's the ultimate test of their friendship.

Parker is understandably devastated when her long-term boyfriend unexpectedly breaks things off. I liked that she doesn't wallow too much and that she tries to get herself back out there by seeking casual sex- even if that doesn't exactly go to plan. Also I think if she had been more devastated by her breakup then her and Ben's relationship might not have felt as realistic. Parker's fun and confident, and just really likable.

I did pretty much love Ben, it's kinda hard not to. He's a total player but he's upfront about it and just doesn't want to be in a relationship. Ben comes across really confident and sure of himself but he's also got a really vulnerable side that he doesn't show very often. He could be such a sweetheart, especially when it came to Parker. And he's super hot- always a plus.

I liked both Parker and Ben's characters, but I LOVED their relationship. They're so fun and open with each other. At first when they're still strictly platonic you don't get the feeling that they're just putting a front, there really is nothing vaguely romantic between them. I think that's why I enjoyed the romantic relationship between them so much, it feels so spontaneous and authentic. It's not like they've been secretly pining after each other for years. Plus their chemistry is crazy good and I think part of that stems from the fact that they're so comfortable around each other.
If you enjoy the friends to lovers type of storyline then you'll definitely love this one. I think the author perfectly balances the friendship and romance between Parker and Ben, and I loved how it all comes together in the end!

*I received a review copy from the publisher for my honest opinion. Thank you!
